Weekly summary |
|
The PPVX has increased by 3.5% to 2,467 points, and the NYSE Arca Oil by 3.9%. Since the beginning of 2010 the PPVX of -4.1% (currency levelized) is around 8 percentage points behind the oil index (+3.6%). The top three of 2010 are Renesola (+81% since PPVX re-entry), GT Solar (+58%) and Solarfun Power (+53%). The biggest weekly winners were Renesola (+20%) and GT Solar (+14%), while E-Ton Solar (-27%) and NPC (-10%) lost most this week. PPVX market capitalization added up to around €36.4 billion ($46.6 billion).

Index calculation: The PPVX is a weighted index so that the stocks of a few highly capitalized companies do not exert too much influence. It is divided into six classes, with different weighing points (WP) based on the companies' market capitalizations. A capitalization of less than €50 million has 1 WP; between €50 million and €200 million, 2 WP; between €200 million and €800 million, 3 WP (Canadian Solar, Centrotherm, Conergy, Delsolar, E-Ton, Gintech, Green Energy Technology, GT Solar, JA Solar, Jinkosolar, LDK Solar, Meyer Burger Technology, Neo Solar Power, NPC, Q-Cells, ReneSola, Roth & Rau, Sino-American Silicon Products, Solarfun Power, STR Holdings, Woongjin Energy); between €800 million and €3.2 billion, 4 WP (Motech, Renewable Energy Corp., SolarWorld, SunPower, Suntech Power,Trina, Yingli); between €3.2 billion and €12.8 billion, 5 WP (First Solar and SMA Solar Technology). |
